If you’re looking for a unique weekend getaway in the Southeast, I can’t recommend Greenville, SC enough! Greenville is an urban-meets-outdoorsy destination with plenty to do for city lovers and hikers alike. Poinsett Bridge

The oldest bridge in South Carolina is located just outside of Greenville. The Poinsett Bridge was built in 1820 and still stands today on the 120-acre Poinsett Bridge Heritage Preserve. Walk across the bridge and head down to the arch for a photo in front of the locally quarried stone.

Falls Park on the Reedy

Situated smack dab in the middle of downtown Greenville, you can’t miss the winding trails and scenic views of Falls Park on the Reedy. This 32-acre park is full of picnic spots, benches, and beautiful views of Greenville’s waterfalls. I can’t wait to go back during spring or summer to see the gardens in bloom!

Wildcat Wayside

Did you know that there are over 70 waterfalls around the Greenville, SC area? Our Airbnb host provided us with tons of waterfall trail suggestions. It was a tough choice but we went with Wildcat Wayside for its proximity to Poinsett Bridge. This easy, one-mile loop packs not one but three waterfalls. Highly recommend!

Sully’s Steamers

If you don’t make it to anything else on this list, you MUST go to Sully’s Steamers! These bagels are the closest thing I’ve found to a true New York City bagel. Soft, chewy, and packed with flavor. I recommend the Hello Newman on an asiago bagel.

Maple Street Biscuit Company

Fried chicken lovers, rejoice. Maple Street Biscuit Company is a must-visit on your Greenville, SC trip. Their biscuits seem small at first glance but trust me, they’re stacked so high with buttery, fried goodness that you’ll feel full in no time. If you’re not down with indoor dining, order online and eat outside on their spacious patio.

Gather GVL

On my Greenville trip, I sought out eating spots that were solely outdoors because, pandemic. Gather GVL was the perfect place! It’s a two-story outdoor food hall with plenty of tables, heaters, a stage area, and 10+ food and drink vendors to choose from. Pasta, sushi, Mexican, burgers, and more mean there’s something for everyone.

UP On the Roof

On our first drive into downtown Greenville, we noticed a colorful, well-lit rooftop bar atop one of the taller buildings from a distance. We later figured out that it was UP On the Roof, a restaurant and rooftop bar on the top of the Embassy Suites building.
